Opposition Figure Guanipa Abducted in Caracas, Says Allies
Just hours after being released from prison, María Corina Machado, the head of Venezuela's opposition, said that her close comrade, Juan Pablo Guanipa, was abducted by armed men in Caracas.
Guanipa, who had been detained for more than eight months, was among the opposition figures released by officials. Machado and his allies are calling for his quick release, claiming that he was taken by force by highly armed individuals dressed in civilian clothes. Authorities are trying to put him under house arrest after the government claims he may have broken terms of his freedom.
